China's state-owned contractor company China Harber Engineering Company Limited has been blacklisted (Black Listed).
The institution offered a bribe of Tk 50 lakh to a secretary. When the secretary informed the government about this, China's Harbar was blacklisted.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith told reporters after meeting with the World Bank Vice President Ennet Dixon on Tuesday afternoon.
The Finance Minister said, according to the rules, no black listed company can work in any country.
In response to a question, the minister said, why should I punish the secretary? He has informed the government about the matter.
China's contractor has been appointed as a contractor for several projects in Bangladesh. What are those projects? Responding to a question whether the contractor tried to give a bribe in terms of work, Muhith said that only the blacklisted. Now the government will decide how those projects will be implemented. And yes, not to get a specific job, the secretary was probably tried to be happy. But the secretary did not accept their illegal offer. Rather, he informed the government on time. He showed a good example.
