Workers of two jute mills in state of Khulna return to work

The remaining workers of the jute mills, who are part of Khulna, returned to work due to partial wages of the remaining wages. After 19 days of closure, the production of Khalishpur and Daulatpur Jute Mill was started in eight jute mills of Khulna.

Workers of Khalishpur Jute Mill at Doulatpur at 10am and 2pm on Thursday (January 18th) joined the work.

Daulatpur Jute Mills Project Head. Sajjad Hossain told banglanews that the wages of the workers for two weeks were waived for two weeks' wages. Another week's wages will be paid soon. 473 workers of the mill joined the work.

Shafiqul Islam, head of the project of Khalishpur Jute Mill, said that two weeks 'wages have been given to the workers for five weeks' wage. The next week's wage will be given for another period. 2,398 workers of the mill returned to work.

However, the production of JJI jute mills in Khulna, state-run Crescent, Platinum, Star, Eastern, Alim and Jessore are still closed. The eight jute mill workers stopped production on 28 December, 2007 for demanding arrears.
