Under this scheme, a plan to set up a large salt-ionization plant (SIP) in Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in Patiya, Chittagong with the help of UNICEF under the project has been taken.

Iodine deficiency or thyroid syndrome is one of the causes of health problems in the country. Obesity, dryness in the hair, sleep may be considered sleepy due to lack of iodine.
BSCIC sources said, the salt plants, initially produced in the proposed plant, would be sold to government agencies including ration. As a result, the use of iodine will be absolutely sure.
BSCIC salt production project director Engineer Shafiqul Alam told banglanews, "I have seen the presence of iodine in one kilogram of private kg of a brand, 35. 375 milligrams. Iodine's presence in the other two sodium salt is 29.55 and 32.55 milligrams. If these salts are provided to the hospital, the patients will face more problems.
