Bangladesh wants donors' cooperation to implement SDG
Bangladesh wants support from development partners in BDF meeting to develop from the LDCs in the implementation of sustainable development target (SDG).
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said this at a press conference at the Economic Relations Division-ERD after the Bangladesh Development Forum (BDF) meeting at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Thursday.
ERD Secretary Kazi Shafiqul Azam, Additional Secretary Monowar Ahmed and Country Director of DFID and BDF Co-Chairperson Jinnah Jaruzaliski were present in Dhaka.
During this time, the Finance Minister said, "In the implementation of the SDG, there will be an additional $ 92 billion and 800 million outside the domestic and foreign investment by 2030. It will take out more 6 thousand 63 billion dollars. In the meantime, direct and foreign direct investment will take 10 percent. And 5 percent will take foreign aid and donations. The remaining money should be provided from the government's own fund.
In this regard, representatives of development partners and organizations present in the BDF meeting agreed to give all assistance to Bangladesh, said Finance Minister. But they have advised the government to create an environment for investing in public-private sector and improve its system. At the same time, establishing the rule of law, enhancing administrative efficiency, transparency and accountability, development partners said.
Responding to a question, the minister said, "Although the implementation of SDG is very difficult. Still, it is important to set specific goals. Although 10 goals have been set for SDG implementation. It is important to start the job by setting priorities in priority and implementing the strategy of implementation. "
In the two-day BDRF meeting, the representatives of development associate countries and organizations have assured to cooperate to achieve this goal in a continuous manner, said ERD Secretary Shafiqul Azam. He said that under the directive of the Finance Minister a task force has been done. It started to work. If Bangladesh goes out of the LDC list (LDC), we will not get some benefits internationally, but if we become a developing country, then our capacity will increase. In that case, there will be additional benefits. Task Force is working to combine the complexity of handling facilities and combine the issues of efficiency. We are reviewing the discussions about what kind of cooperation we would like for the donors in Rohingya rehabilitation. If this problem is prolonged, then the government is doing its own work to improve the development of Rohingyas from Teknaf and Ukhia and transfer them to Vasanachar.
The Finance Minister further said, "Development partners are more responsible for implementing SDG than government's responsibility. So they have to come forward in this work. For this purpose, some plans were taken by the government, some projects were taken. In order to implement the SDG, the amount of trillions of dollars needed to be provided, and how it can be found, other countries than we think.
In reply to another question, the minister said, "Bangladesh is not a country now a poor country or beggar country. Bangladesh now has the capability to cooperate many countries. "The finance minister said," Bangladesh now offers scholarships to students of different countries including Malaysia, Nepal and Bhutan. "

The two-day BDRF meeting began on Wednesday in Sonargaon. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this. In two days 8 seminars were held.
