The incident took place on May 28, 2005 Shammi Akhter Happy, a third year student of Dhaka University's Philosophy Department, was killed by bus in Shahbagh in the capital. At this moment students of Dhaka University came out and blocked Shahbagh. If the police lathicharged on the students, they would take shelter in the arts. Demanding the resignation of Proctor AKA Firoz Ahmed, the protesters demanded the resignation of the protesters. The final day of the incident was May 29th. On that day, the Proctor of the university and the then VC SMA Fayes visited the Fine Arts. The VC and Proctor's team reached the hall at 10am. During the procession, the activists arrested the vC and proctor at Charu Kalar and went to the Charuqala. The protesters were demanding that Proctor be resigned. However, the VC and the Proctor were kept in detention due to not being immediately accepted by the Proctor.

From 10am onwards, students kept Prasanta's resignation and VC in the arts. At that time, students of the Students Movement took part in the Doctor of Fine Arts. After being detained for three hours, the VC SMA phoyaz asked the central leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal to protect him. At around 1pm, hundreds of cadres led by Chhatra Dal University President Hasan Mamun and General Secretary Saiful Islam Firoz went to the FC to get VC SMA foiz and proctor AKA Firoz Ahmed. Students of the university have been jumping on the protesters to rescue the VC of Dhaka University. VC has rescued ordinary students by beating them. The student was injured in the incident.
