The Parliament to increase the sentence of the fast-track trial in parliament

The Parliament to increase the sentence of the fast-track trial in parliament

Revised the fast-tracked fast justice law and bill has been raised to extend the extension of punishment. The proposed amendment has been increased from seven years to seven years. In addition to this, it has been proposed to give the government the ability to appoint a specially empowered first class magistrate.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan raised the 'Law and order disciplinary offense (Quick Judgment) Bill, 2018' in the meeting of the Parliament on Monday. The bill was then sent to the Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs for a seven-day investigation. Earlier, the speaker said at 4:30 pm. The meeting of the parliament was started in the chairmanship of Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

The controversial law was passed in 2002 for two years during the then BNP-Jamaat alliance government, but its term was extended several times later. The latest Awami League-led government has revised the law on April 3, 2014 for five years and extended the term for five years. This was the first bill passed by the January 5 general election, which was passed in the Parliament. Yesterday, the bill was not meant to increase the expansion in the bill. As a result, the law will continue until April 7, 2019.

The Home Minister said that the law was enacted in 2002 in order to play a quick and effective role in controlling law and order in the country. But due to the low amount of punishment, and the overall law and order situation of the country is normal and better, the punishment should be increased further.

Under this law, there is provision for disposal of trial work within 120 days. If the settlement is not settled during this time 60 days will be available. There is a complaint from the candidates for the time being, but in most cases it is not possible to complete the trial in due time. Opposition parties have complained that the government has used the law to prevent the political party's programs and suppress the opposition.
